Is henna safe to use on eyebrows too? And how would I apply that?

  • Mia:

I have medium/dark brown hair and I would like to tint it red without going too over the top. I’m not fond of the burgundy/red that I saw was the result of using the deep red, do you think the natural or pure red would work for me?

  • Mia:

I have medium/ dark brown hair with natural golden highlights and I have not dyed my hair in several years, what would the effect be if I used the natural red dye? I’m not fond of the deep red and the natural red is much closer in tone to what I would like which is a reddish brown after effect.

    • It will give the dark brown a auburn look and the highlights will be very red orange high lites. If your hair is really dark you might see it in the dark places.

  • Im a natural born redhead with very long straight hair. But as age crept up on me, now 43!… my hair has dulled from a vibrant copper red with natural gold highlights that I always would receive many complements to an ashy copper brown with 20% gray. I hate coloring my hair! It’s messy and the chemicals smell horable! But I forever yearn for that unique, beautiful amber-like color that I never appreciated as a youth. Please advise me on what color or colors to purchase and frequency I should use to achieve my true color I have lost so long ago.

    Thank you
    Victoria

    • Natural red orange ( pure henna) or copper brown. Copper brown can get darker over time, so when it gets darker, go back to pure henna. Do root touch ups as needed or you can do the whole head. it is permanent so color as needed. You can use it as often as you like.

I am a natural red head- and I want a warmer colour all over, but dnt want it to be hugely different! And I don’t want to dye it with chemical dyes. Will henna just enrich my natural colour as I’m a natural red head? Any advice would be appreciated :) thanks.

    • If you a re a natural red head, simply mix our Harvest Moon henna with warm water and immediately apply. Leave it on for 20 minutes the first time and rinse. Wash it with shampoo immediately after if it is to red. If it looks ok, then wait 24 hours and shampoo. Only use tap water in the mix.
If it is not red enough, 48 hours later do it again, but this time leave it on for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Do the same process again. Picture number 4 did exactly what I explained to you (http://hennahut.com/henna_testimonials) and it looks perfect.

  • Melissa:

I have medium brown wavy-ish type hair that gets lighter/golden near the ends, though I don’t think I have dyed it in a LONG time. I have, I believe, warm skin tones and have been reading about the type of color to select. I am torn between Deep Red, Burgundy, and Natural Red. If I can’t decide, would it be possible to mix the 3 colors? Or should I just stick with one? I do not want a circus-y too-bright red.
    thank you, much appreciated.

    • Deep red, or red will be fine. The darker the brown the less you will see it and the deeper the red you will need. The lighter the hair the redder the color.

  • Laurie:

Does henna cover gray to white hair. How long does it last? I’m using revlon colorsilk ,I’m afraid of all the chemicals

  • Aren’t the other red hennas all natural?

  • Becca:

I have a dark-brown hair type. I was hoping to make it go blonde but that doesnt seem like an option. I also wanted to dye my whole head a light-red almost orange. I am petite for my age and was wondering if that would be a good idea. I have medium to thick hair. I was also wondering if i would need to use a certain shampoo and conditioner to keep the color.

    Thanks!

As you may have already read, henna can only go darker-than or equal-to in color, it cannot go lighter. Unfortunately with dark brown hair, you are somewhat limited. I’m not sure how dark your hair is, but you may be able to get away with burgundy or deep red. Remember that these will not lighten your hair, they will just add some color to your brown. Mostly reds. Take a look at some of our before and after pictures to get an idea of what you can expect from henna. As for the shampoos, stay away from dandruff shampoos as these will eventually react with the indigo in the henna mixes and possibly turn your hair green. Most regular shampoos and conditioners are okay to use with henna. I recommend using our Harvest Moon Aloe Vera Shampoo and Conditioner to promote new hair growth and add volume and shine to your hair. They are chemical free and great for your hair.

I have natural red hair and it is now getting a bit sandy in spots but I don’t want to dye my whole head as of yet or change the all over color. Can I use the natural red head color you have but use it very lightly all over hair (maybe in a smaller amount….) or even just in certain areas that show the grey more? Just not ready to take the full plunge yet.

    • bre:

Yes, the pure henna will give you a natural red color. And of course, you don’t have to apply it to all of your hair. You can only apply it where is needed. I recommend doing a strand test first to be sure that all of your hair will still be matching.
