Indigo Hair Dye
(Purchase at bottom of page)
Indigo hair dye like its cousin henna hair dye also comes from a variety of plants (dyer’s knotweed, woad etc). Indigo used with henna will turn hair many shades of brown or jet black. To get jet black it requires a two step process. You can get browns by mixing indigo and henna together (no lemons!), the more indigo you add the darker it will get. Our Indigo is 100% Natural.
There is no chemicals added to our Indigo what so ever. We all are around Indigo on a daily bases. It is in our jeans, our food we eat on a daily bases (food coloring) and many other fabrics. Indigo is a green color and smells like frozen vegetables. Some say frozen peas, some say spinach.
Our natural Indigo hair dye is easily mixed with water. Once mixed with water you will see blue start to appear at the top. The blue is a good sign you have good Indigo. Indigo hair dye is ready instantly. For best results, dye hair with henna first. It works on just about any hair.
If you have chemically died your hair in the last year or are not sure how it will turn out, make sure to do a strand test. Take hair from a brush or cut a small strand out. Indigo is a permanent hair dye and will not wash out! It will fade over time but it acts like a chemical hair dye without the chemicals!
Make sure to discard any leftover indigo powder. If you do not need to use all of the Indigo do not mix all of the Indigo! Sunlight and air can ruin Indigo over time so make sure you seal any leftover Indigo powder in a zip lock bag and store it in a dark location. Our Indigo and Henna is 2 ply air tight sealed for freshness and to keep sunlight out.
It takes up to 24 hours for hair to set in final color. After you remove the Indigo you maybe a bit blue, this is ok! By Morning it should be black and then a gorgeous jet black!
Always make sure to cover floor and clothes when applying henna. You will need a friend to help you.
Let’s go over some details:
• Indigo hair dye or powder is safe

So I saw this and I got excited. I’ve been using Henna Hair Dye (I bought the Red recently) to dye my hair some natural, “Bright” colors, and the red came out great!
So the Indigo; If I dyed my hair indigo, would it be some sort of blue/purple? Or a purple/black?
If you dye it with indigo it will turn black. if you use distilled water it might help turn it purple, if you are after purple. Alcohol has the same effect, but is not good for your hair.
Like to where can i buy your product in Malaysia or is they on sale only online?
Thank you

Hi, there are lot of places you can get pure indigo in Chennai. I have ordered from this website – http://hennahut.com and they are the best/. They will deliver the product at home and you can pay them on delivery or through credit card at the website. Other places are wholesalers who export indigo, you can contact them over phone and request for a small quantity for your use. Most are willing to oblige.
And your telling us this because?
It would be nice if you would mention the number of grams in each packet of indigo.
Hi, What is the difference between black hair dye and indigo hair dye? I am an asian with brown-black hair. However my hair have started turning grey ( I am still in 30s) and I am looking for natural ways to dye. Which color I need to choose and is it possible to get it shipped to India? Thanks.
Yes we do ship to India, When you check out just select your country. Indigo by itself may or may not turn your gray black, since you are naturally black. It also will not be permanent and will last about a week.
If you order the black, it will come with indigo and henna, as a two step process it will be black and permanent. You might also be able to get away with dark brown. You can also might be able to mix henna and indigo together to get black. 75% indigo 30% henna.
100.
Hi there,
I dyed my grey hair with henna and indigo in two step process. after carefully washed, then the hair was black.(looks nice) But when I comb my hair, it aways comes out with some blurish and green color on comb and hair became redder as the henna dyed in first time. Is it indigo like that ?
This is normal in the first few hours. Wash your hair in 24 hours. It will get darker over the next 24 hours. You can also hair dry it after you rinse for better results.
What if I actually want a blue colour? Can indigo be used without henna (perhaps with something else, even if it’s chemical) to get a blue, particularly a light blue?
If you use a small amount of alcohol. Of course it is not natural then. Sometimes distilled water will do it as well. It varies person to person and can come out purple as well.
Mdm /Sir,
From Malaysia. I have tried most artificial dyes and even the black henna from India. I ended up with serious rashes and have vowed never to apply any of these stuff ever. But i have grey hair ( white ) and i think some black hair would improve my overall personality. The fear of undergoing another allergic reaction is frightening. Can Harvest Moon help me.
Rgds, Gopi
Yes you are allergic to the PPD. We do not sell black henna, we sell black hair dye that is all natural. It comes with 100 grams of henna and 100 grams of indigo. I would recomend watching the video’s on black hair dye.
So you do not need to worry with out products. Some people are allergic to honey as well as the sun, or even a nut. So hopefully you are not allergic to indigo. We only use the plant kind. I wish you the best of luck. Most come to us after they have had a bad allergic reaction to chemical hair dye.
Dear Sir / Mdm,
Much obliged for your prompt reply. I live in the southern part of Malaysia which is a stone throw away from Singapore. I need to purchase HMHD on a regular basis. Is your product available in Malaysia or Singapore? I could purchase directly from your distributor. Please provide details.
Rgds, Gopi
YOu are very welcome
We ship all over the world on a regular basis. When you check out , just add your address and country. It is better to order large amounts as you save on shipping.
I am Asian and my hair is a dull black. I want to add a blue/violet sheen that is not too dramatic. Should I still go through the two-step henna then indigo process and then follow up with another indigo application or should I just use the indigo since my hair is already black? Also could you explain further the process of using alcohol to get a purple effect? Thank you!
You can do it a few ways, of course all are not good for you as it is alcohol. I if you clean you hair with alcohol and then apply indigo that will do it. We have not played with it that much. If you dye your hair with our dark brown and then 24 hours later use a sponge,
that will do it. If your hair is dark, you will only see it in the light. try a small area first. We cannot be responsible for the out come as not enough research has been done so use discretion.
