Henna Ingredients
Our henna is all natural! Absolutely no chemicals are used what so ever! We have many customers that are allergic to the chemical hair die and we do not use them.
So how do we get different colors? Simple, we use other plants, roses, black berries, orange peel, lemon peel etc.
Mix Indigo and Henna and you get shades of brown. Henna is basically a plant that is ground down to a powder.
In fact henna is good for your hair. It rids dandruff, head lice and even ring worms.
It leaves your hair manageable, soft thick and shiny. Use “neutral” (non-staining) henna as a conditioner and you will thank us.
We have used henna from all around the world and you can rest assured our Henna ingredients are natural to the purest form.

Hi I wanted to know because I have been told to add honey to the Henna mix for more moisture and a little vinegar to lighten up the color of my choice. Is this true and okay to do so???
Vinegar, no. Vinegar will make it more permanent. Honey, it might make it lighter, but it also can keep the henna from staying in. I would recommend cassia obovata, or Amla. They are awesome conditioners and the more you add the lighter it will be. So many people say way to many things they they do not understand the long term effect. Harvest Moon is experts in this field, and this reflects to Harvest Moon hair and Beard Dye.
Thank u so much for responding. One more question amla only comes in an oil right?
Your welcome. It does not. Only powder. New research is showing oil is not good on the hair and it will strip the colors. All of our hair dyes come with natural conditioners accept the pure red orange as it is the best natural conditioner you can purchase, but it is red.
I want to dye my hair red, but many of the chemical hair dyes say not to use if you have tattoos. Is this tattoo safe?
You are speaking of chemical hair dye. This is not chemical hair dye. What there box says is ” if you have tattoos it doubles the odds of an allergic reaction”. So you will be fine. I personally have 5 tattoos. One covers half my arm and I use this product all the time.
95% of the people that come to us do so after they have had bad allergic reaction to chemical hair dye.
I have heard some hennas, even though natural, contain metallic salts which is pretty bad when using after chemical dyes, does your henna dyes contain metallic salts or anything metallic?
You just described chemical hair dye. Most chemical hair dyes contain henna. The word hair dye derived from the word henna. So like it states all over our site, we do not add chemicals to our hair dye. That goes for metallic salts as well. Metallic salts or “Salt Chemistry”. Mainly made of sodium and potassium, magnesium, copper, nickel and and potassium permanganate. Ours is just plants, so you can feel easy about using our products.
I got my dark brown hair dyed red two years ago at a salon. I eventually had to dye it back brown because the smells of the chemicals aggrivated my asthma and I couldn’t maintain it. I’ve used two at home hair colors since then to try to cover up the light red line that occasionally reappears in my hair, but the ammonia in the home hair color bothers me, too. My question for you is this. If I use your dark brown henna in my hair, will it have any strong scents of any kind that can aggrivate allergy induced asthma? Even natural smells can sometimes be a problem if they are from strong scented flowers like eucalyptus and orchids, but any kind of spices or fruits like rosemary or oranges, something of that sort are fine. Because my hair is super curly, most people don’t see this line, but it’s seriously bugging me! Thanks!
Your just going to have to try it and see. The smell is earthy, the dark brown smells like frozen peas. Not even remotely close to the smell of chemical hair dye.
Okay, one more question. I’ve read a few reviews that say if you use henna, you should never use heat on your hair. So if I use a warm/cool diffuser on my curls every couple of days after I wash them, and use a flat iron a couple times a year to my haidresser can have an easier time getting my layers straight, is this a problem?
You should never use heat on your hair period. It is the gels people use that counter acts the hair with the heating iron. But if you are going to keep using chemicals on your hair why not stick with chemical hair dye a swell? Point being it kind of defeats the purpose of using all natural hair dye. With so many products on the markets it is hard to tell how all of them will react. We always say wait at least 2 weeks after using our product with other products..
If you would take a second to look at the question I put up before this, you will see that I’m looking for an alternative to chemical dyes because they aggrivate my asthma. Yes, I know heat is bad for you hair, which is why I don’t blow dry my hair completely dry, or use hot air to do it. I use warm air for a second, then cool air, never letting the ends of my hair get any warmer then I would want my fingertips being, which stay in the diffuser with my hair it to keep it safe. Don’t be so quick to judge how your customers treat their hair, you’ll lose them that way….
You’re misjudging my tonality in email. If you would talk to me on the phone you would have not said that
This is why email and texting is ruining this planet. This is also why the book is ever so much better than the movie, because we perceive the book the way we want to not the way the producer of a movie does.
We are here to help and that is what we do, so do not take it the wrong way. If was not eager to help you I just would not answer you. (Smiling) have a great day!
Also since your first question I have answered well over 100 questions. So please excuse me if I do not remember the first one. We get over a hundred emails a day and phone calls as well as message boards like this one. I try and remember everyone but it is hard to do. So do not take it personally.
Main thing is henna and the ingredients in our hair dye are all natural. So just do a strand test before using another product. And when in doubt ask us, that is why we are here!
My apologies if my tone came off in a way I didn’t intend. I assumed since my first question is posted just above this one on your website, you could see it.
No problem. Each page can leave comments so it can be quite a few in the same day, we do not see them by the page, we see them in the order they come.
I just had a question about how long the henna dye lasts? aprox how long does the color stay until its starts to fade compared to chemical dyes. And how long should i dye my hair to keep it up?
It is permanent. So once you get it going just do root touch ups to maintain or do your whole head if you are doing red or black. Henna Videos.
If you can do your entire head with henna each month you will reap the benefits. Of course little is better than none
What’s the diffrent between your henna and Lush henna?
I know Lush have organic henna only and pure. Please
let me know
thanks,
Lush henna comes in a brick. It is premixed and hardened. You have to chop it, boil it, microwave it and this takes a very long time. Our henna is harvested, dried and ground down and then sifted 3 times. While in a powder form it is placed in a air tight pouch and the air is sucked out. Air and sun ruin henna. It is then placed in a sun tight pouch and sealed. This keeps our henna super fresh. Plus you are getting more henna for your buck. Since it is premixed it makes it heavier.
Our henna is pure-er as it is in its purest form. It does have an organic seal in India we just have not done so in the USA. Ours also will have a much much longer shelf life. Also as soon as henna is mixed with water it begins to lose the dye molecules. You only want to mix it when you are ready to use it to keep it super fresh. Lush just does it different and it is a lot of work!
